Vermeer presents the redesigned HG4000 horizontal grinder. This new generation of his HG4000 offers ideal performance in various wood waste recycling applications and in the production of landscaping materials. It is equipped with a 536 hp (399.7 kW) CAT C13B T4F/Stage V diesel engine, Series III duplex drums, powerful infeed for a variety of materials, and many performance and durability features. The operating sound of the machine is also quiet at 112 decibels.
According to Jeff Bradley, Product Manager for Environmental Equipment at Vermeer, the Vermeer HG4000 horizontal grinder is ideal for professionals and high volume landscaping material producers looking to expand their offerings.
“This is a great unit for tree management professionals looking to minimize disposal fees for bulky materials and turn waste into useful end products,” says Bradley. It is also a productive machine for small to medium-sized multi-growers with limited space for farming. The HG4000’s size makes transport efficient in congested urban environments, making it ideal for small-scale land clearing operations. And while this horizontal is smaller than other machines in the Vermeer grinder product line, it grinds a wide variety of materials, from loose and bulky materials such as leaves, branches and garden cuttings, to hardwoods, pallets and logs. can handle.”
The HG4000 has a feed table capacity of 4.6 cubic yards. It features the cutting performance of a Vermeer Series III duplex drum with a reversible hammer and tip that provides longer wear life and a bolt-in replacement compared to single sided designs. The HG4000’s hard-faced anvil provides ideal cutting action on the drum, and a redesigned anvil mounting structure simplifies the hard-faced wear edge replacement process.
The HG4000 benefits from updated feed rollers with positive teeth and downward pressure to maintain control of the material being fed. The fully enclosed feed roller drive planetary provides protection and tight clearance between the rollers and mill housing to optimize material feeding while minimizing material catch points.
Wireless remote control is standard on the HG4000, allowing operators to perform most machine functions from up to 300 feet (91.4 meters) away.
“The remote allows the operator to adjust things like infeed settings, engine speed reductions, conveyor heights, etc., meaning you can grind for maximum time throughout the day,” explains Bradley.
The redesigned Vermeer HG4000 includes a drive belt tensioning system that doesn’t require the engine to run when making adjustments, large hinged side shields for optimal maintenance access, and the addition of power rotation to the screen hoist for screen replacement. Includes several service and maintenance enhancements. CAT engine. It can also be equipped with optional cross-band magnets and magnetic head pulleys to pull metal from above and below the material on the conveyor after it has passed through the machine, giving the material a clean finish.
The HG4000 has a transport width of 8.2 feet and a height of 13 feet, a five wheel hitch trailer is 32 feet long and weighs 52,910 pounds, or a pintle hitch trailer is 37 feet long and weighs 55,155 pounds.
