ROCKY RIVER, Ohio — To prevent candy wrappers from ending up in landfills, Rubicon created the Trick or Trash program. According to Rubicon’s website, in the US he will buy more than £600 million in candy during Halloween.
According to its website, Rubicon is a digital waste and recycling management company dedicated to creating better, more sustainable ways to handle waste.
Candy wrappers tend to end up in the trash because they cannot be properly recycled through most street recycling programs. Trick-or-trash programs provide schools and businesses with recycling boxes of candy wrappers, keeping wrappers out of landfills and, worse, out to sea.
Rachel of Rocky River’s Little Spark Refill Shop said the refill shop will be participating in the Trick or Trash program in 2021 and find it successful, and hopes 2022 will be another successful year.
“We filled a box within a month of Halloween. I hope this year the community will learn more about it and seek out local trick or trash boxes. Especially since it’s such an easy program.” Just save the candy wrappers and bring them with you.We all know how much candy kids get on Halloween, so this will help them learn how to do better things for the planet. It’s also a great method.
The Little Spark Refill Shop is dedicated to eliminating excess chemicals and plastic waste by creating natural products that promote sustainability. Customers can reuse single-use bottles and refill with eco-friendly products.
The Little Spark Refill Shop has recycling boxes of Trick or Trash candy wrappers in all three stores so you and your little goblins can unload the wrappers after Halloween.
If you’re interested in joining Rubicon’s efforts to keep the factory clean, you can request a recycling box of candy wrappers here. Rubicon ships boxes to businesses and schools for free.
