WILKES-BARRE — Travel delays are expected during next week’s city’s electronic recycling drop-off event at the Department of Public Works facility along North Pennsylvania Avenue between Butler Street and Conyingham Avenue.Wilkes-Barre City Police Department officers assist traffic on site.
The event will take place Monday from 2:30pm to 5:30pm and Thursday from 9am to noon at the DPW facility on 3 Conyingham Avenue. Only Wilkes-Barre residents are allowed to participate and proof of residency such as a driver’s license is required. requirement. Participants will be instructed to enter her DPW facility from North Pennsylvania Avenue and exit to Conyingham Avenue.
The following items are accepted free of charge:
• Desktop and laptop computers
• DVD player and VCR
• keyboard and mouse
• Game system
• Printer/fax machine
• String Christmas lights
• Cables and cords
• small appliances
• Mobile phone and laptop batteries
• Metal products and water heaters
• Calculator and Adder
• Exercise Equipment – Bicycle/Treadmill
• UPS battery backup
• Car battery (sealed lead acid)
• Toner and ink cartridges
• Bed frame and rain cover
• Audiovisual equipment
• lawn mower
• Filing cabinet
•shredder
• Phones and Mobile Phones – Remove batteries from mobile phones.
Additional items can be recycled for a fee payable by cash or check only at the event. Please pay a check to Responsible Recycling Services or RRS.

• CRT monitor – $18 (tube type)
• LCD Monitor – $12
• TVs under 42 inches – $38 for all types
• Floor Copier – $20
• TV (Wooden Cabinet, Projection, 42 inch or more) TV Tube (Broken TV) – $55
• Console Stereo (in cabinet) – $35
• Paint can (1 gallon can) – $5
Offsite hard drive destruction service is $10 per drive and includes a destruction certificate.
Household batteries, light bulbs, CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes, and Styrofoam cannot be accepted.
