Friday Harbor – In 2021, SC Johnson Company, maker of town and home brands, launched a year-long pilot study to provide curbside collection and recycling of plastic film for residents of Friday Harbor. This program he finished in October 2022. Overall, the research was a success. The Town and Lautenbach Recycling have partnered to continue the plastic film recycling program over the past year following overwhelming support from the Town’s residents.
All single-family homes currently collecting garbage are eligible to participate. Residents who choose to participate should consider clean and dry plastic bags, plastic storage bags such as Ziploc® brand bags, grocery and produce plastic bags, dry cleaning bags, and other flexible plastic films to be “plastic.” It should still be recycled by putting it in the ‘Film Only’ recycling.
