US Recycle Day is November 15th
It seems that every day of the year is designated as an anniversary. November 15th of each year is “America Recycle Day”. America Recycles Day was started by him in 1994 as a way to promote recycling and encourage individuals to be more aware of what they consume and throw away. Today, we want to help you remember to recycle at one of the 24 public recycling drop-off bins located throughout the county and help you understand how to recycle properly. Find your location at https://lickingcounty.gov/depts/recycling/location.htm.
Why should I recycle?
Most things we make on this planet come from Earth. Simply put, we need to dig the ground for metals, minerals, or oil (used in plastic production), cut down trees to make paper, and use sand to make glass. I have. Acquiring these items creates pollution, consumes energy, and costs money. Recycling – or turning existing items into new items – things we have already produced reduce pollution, save energy and reduce costs. Recycling also puts waste in landfills is decreasing. Examples of energy savings include:
The energy saved by recycling one glass bottle can power a 100-watt light bulb for four hours.
・By recycling one aluminum can, you can save enough energy to watch TV for 2-3 hours
easy to recycle
Licking County Recycling offers a “mixed” recycling bin for residents to use. This means that all recyclables can be put into one container without segregation. Bin locations are listed on our website above. Some communities already have roadside recycling built into their garbage fees (Granville Village, Patascara, Johnstown). Other areas offer roadside recycling as an additional option (Townships: Etna, Granville, Union, Hebron Village). If you live outside of these areas, check with your garbage collector for availability of recycling on the street. (List may not be complete.)
