LOUISVILLE, Kentucky — Several fire departments put out fires at a recycling center on Tuesday.

O’Corona’s Fire Chief Frankie Nally said the Westrock Recycling site near the airport has departments of O’Corona, Highview, Fern Creek, Louisville Fire and Zoneton working.

They used heavy equipment to dismantle piles of burning cardboard. The plastic was also on fire.

About 50 to 60 firefighters were on hand to fight the blaze.

Additionally, there were 11 engine companies, 2 truck companies and 2 medical units on site.

EMS took one person to hospital, but no one was injured in the fire, Nary said.

He later said the crew would be there for most of the night.
