    The Mackay School of Geosciences and Engineering, the John Mackay Club, and Redwood Materials will host a battery collection event on November 16 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. This group will collect lithium and rechargeable batteries and devices, and nickel-metal hydride batteries at the Gateway Plaza outside the Joe Crowley Student Union.

    Acceptable rechargeable devices (those containing batteries) include:

    • cell phone
    • Laptop
    • tablet
    • cordless power tools
    • electric toothbrush
    • inhale vape
    • wireless headphones
    • car key fob battery
    • battery for rechargeable vacuum cleaner
    • Other rechargeable devices with lithium-ion batteries

    Redwood Materials is a company based in Northern Nevada. Redwood Materials aims to build a closed-loop domestic supply chain of lithium-ion batteries. For more information on recycling lithium and how to recycle old devices and batteries, please visit the Redwood Materials website.
