KSB Offers Recycled Drive, Tire Pardon Day On November 12th

Keep Suffolk Beautiful will be hosting an upcoming Recycling Drive and Tire Amnesty Day on Saturday, November 12th from 9am-1pm at the Public Works Operations facility at 800 Carolina Rd.
This is a free event and a great opportunity for people looking to recycle and responsibly dispose of items found around their homes, garages, sheds and backyards before the holiday season begins.
This event offers some special services. Tires that cannot be disposed of by the weekly general household waste collection will be accepted from residents with Suffolk ID. They must be less than 22 inches and are not rim mounted. Commercial tires are accepted.
A station is planned for the day where residents can unload large appliances and scrap metal, according to Keep Suffolk Beautiful. Appliances such as refrigerators, washers, dryers, freezers, stoves, water heaters and air conditioners are accepted.
“Recycled Drive and Tire Amnesty Day promises to be a great event, as always,” said Keep Suffolk Beautiful spokesperson Audrey Dennis. “This will go a long way toward properly disposing of tires, hazardous materials, etc. We hope our residents will take full advantage of the many free services we offer.” .”
A Suffolk attorney’s office will be onsite to assist residents with document shredding, another free service offered by the event. Please note that during busy periods, the document shredder is limited to three grocery bags of documents shredded by the resident.
Many other items are accepted for disposal or recycling, such as:
- Electronics (no CRT TVs or TVs larger than 42 inches)
- Carefully worn clothes and shoes
- Wear
- battery
- PET bottles and mugs No. 1 and No. 2
- cardboard, paper, magazines
- Plastic bag
- glass container
- U.S. flag that needs to be retired properly
SPSA Waste Solutions is set up to collect household hazardous waste from residents with Suffolk ID. This includes oils, gasoline, antifreeze, cleaners, propane tanks, paints, pesticides, CFL bulbs, and more. Disposal of such items is limited to 5 gallons of liquid or 75 pounds of solid waste.

Donations of non-perishable foods, toiletries, deodorants, and anything that creates foam such as hand soap or dish soap are required and accepted to go to ForKids. and collecting hearing aids. We also plan to sell brooms.
