PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island (AP) — The plastics industry says there is a way to solve the plastic waste crisis that plagues oceans, beaches and land around the world. It’s a form of recycling that melts plastic back into an oil-like mixture and ships it to a factory back into raw plastic. But environmental groups say advanced recycling won’t solve the plastic problem and will continue to enable a surge in global plastic production.
