The City of Dallas is changing garbage and recycling collection dates.

The changes, which take effect December 5, affect 56% of the Department of Health’s customers.

The sanitation department now collects and recycles garbage on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and employees work 10-12 hours a day to complete routes.

The new schedule calls for collections over five days, Monday through Friday. This allows for more efficient use of equipment, reduced emissions, and fewer trips to and from landfills, transfer stations and material recovery facilities. Also, the sanitation worker’s working hours will be reduced to his eight hours. And equipment maintenance can start earlier than each day.

Please search by address to see if the collection date has changed.
