It’s time to dispose of the natural Christmas tree.
The City of Greenville, Keep Greenville Beautiful and GEUS are offering green solutions this weekend.
A free Christmas tree recycling event is scheduled for Saturday from 8-11 am in the parking lot of the GEUS David McCalla Building (2810 Wesley St.) in Greenville.
Organizers note that the event cannot accept flocked trees, artificial trees, or trees that still have metal decorations or other decorations attached. cannot exceed 7 feet.
Fallen trees become mulch. Those who bring wood to shred can bring a container and take mulch home. Mulch is beneficial for gardens, lawns and flowerbeds.
Anyone wishing to have their trees mulched must bring proof of residency, such as a current utility bill.
The Texas A&M Forest Service also has information online about how to dispose of your Christmas tree.
