Mayor Byron W. Brown announced the launch of Buffalo’s annual leaf recycling program. Until December 1st, leaves and yard waste in clear plastic or paper bags will be collected at the curb and composted.
The mayor said there is no limit to the number of bags that can be placed on the curb. He warned that anyone raking leaves in the streets could be served with a subpoena.
“I am calling on city residents to Buff It, Buffalo as part of our Reef Recycling Program designed to keep neighborhood streets and storm drains clean across the city,” said Mayor Brown.
“We would like to thank our residents for helping us make this year’s bagged leaf collection process run as smoothly as possible. Also, learn about the different leaf recycling collection options available. and help our communities save taxpayer dollars by continuing to properly recycle and keep things falling out of landfills.”

City residents can also drop off yard debris at the West New York Gator Don at 383 Babcock Street, which is open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 3:30 pm. Proof of residence is required.
