Chicago (CBS) — As you start decorating for the holidays, you may find that not all the lights work. don’t throw them away. recycle them.
Starting next week, Algonquin Village will be offering free holiday light recycling from November 21st to January 18th.
Head to the Ganech Municipal Center at 2200 Harnish Drive and place your unwanted lights in the marked container during normal business hours.
This is for holiday lights only. No wreaths, wreaths, live greenery, no household light bulbs.
The City of Evanston will also host a light recycling program from December 1st to January 31st. Elgin has partnered with the Northern Cook County Solid Waste Authority and Elgin Recycling.
Holiday lights can be dropped off at the Evanston Ecology Center, the Levi Senior Center, or the Robert Crown Community Center.
