When it’s time to clean up in Woodstock, it might be time to get professional help to clean it all up

On Thursday, September 15th, 14 people gathered at the Woodstock Community Center to pick up equipment for the evening’s neighborhood cleanup. The non-profit Adopt One Block provided free grabbers, buckets, white trash bags and gloves to all volunteers.

Community volunteers will choose one of 12 proposed routes between SE 52nd and Chavez Boulevard (previously 39th) and Holgate Boulevard to Duke Street between 5:30 and 6:30 pm. to the selected area.

1-800-GOT-JUNK, a professional cleaning franchise, offered to pick up and remove all trash bags, so participants must return to the community center with their trash and trash bags by 7:30 p.m. was. At that time.

But it turns out that this business actually offered more than that! I was a little surprised that I showed up at 30 and joined to pick up litter and trash.

When THE BEE asked them if it would be difficult for them to come after work to help volunteers in the Woodstock neighborhood, Draven Burton – one of the business’s employees – replied, “No, this is our downfall.” It’s time…”

The partnership began when Robert Christensen, General Manager of a Portland cleaning franchise, looked at all the trash littering the city streets of Portland and wondered what he could do as a private citizen. When he found out about the local non-profit Adopt One Block, he called and its founder Frankhe spoke with Moscow.

“Frank said people needed help disposing of the trash they picked up, so we came up with a plan to see if we could raise a small amount of money to cover the disposal costs. I am happy to report that many people have picked up trash or helped financially,” Christensen said.

    Moscow recalls. .”

So for the past year and a half, the two have helped cleanup neighborhood groups (and individual Adopt One Block volunteers) to dispose of their collected bags. As a result, “there were hundreds of cleanup events that the team at ‘1-800-GOT-JUNK’ completed for us,” Moscow said. “As of today, there are over 400 garbage collections and from the street he has removed over 40 tons of garbage. I was. ” In this particular Woodstock Neighborhood Cleanup, we filled 16 bags.

Christensen expressed his passion for helping clean up the community with the following comment.

If you can help, the next monthly Woodstock District cleanup will most likely take place on Saturday morning and will be announced later on the Woodstock District Association website — www.woodstockpdx.org.
