Large items such as furniture can be removed free of charge once a year.
If there is a free coach by the roadside, was it put there as an act of charity or a desperate plea?
Vision Vancouver, the political party running in the 2022 Vancouver Citizens Election, is envisioning the latter, promising a citywide removal day for large items if elected.
They believe that logistical problems when disposing of furniture and large junk items are a serious problem for Vancouverites, especially seniors, those who live in apartments, and those who do not own a car. And as a party, they want to ensure that residents see a city working on practical solutions to everyday problems.
Similar to the Delta’s annual initiative called the Spring Cleanup, a publicly funded removal date has been promised by Spring 2023. This is intended to reduce the number of mattresses and furniture discarded in alleyways and save residents money spent on junk. removal service.
At Delta, the large item pick-up program applies only to those who are eligible for curbside pick-up. Vision’s plan is to work with the City’s Sanitation Service to expand to include annual removal of large items at no additional cost to citizens.
Honye Basegari, City Council Member of Vision Vancouver, said: “
Barzegari said city officials collect waste one at a time when citizens report it or block entrances to buildings. “I want Vancouver to be a city where we see the value of City Hall on a daily basis. This is a concrete and tangible way that City Hall can help people with everyday concerns.” he says.
Vision Vancouver is running for Congress without a mayoral candidate, campaigning with a promise to end hearings on below-market housing projects and open all neighborhoods to townhouses, tenements and mid-rise apartments.
