David Ortiz runs a junk removal company and his trailer was stolen last week.
VICTORIA, Texas – David Ortiz owns a junk removal company in Victoria and on Wednesday, November 23, an $8,000 trailer was stolen from the scene.
Ortiz went to pick up the trailer the next morning after loading it with junk for the customer to remove, but when it arrived it was nowhere to be seen. The thieves also stole tools and a catalytic converter from a nearby car and stole it from the scene. Ortiz is only a few years old, but this has taken a toll on his business as his company is still too small to have full-time employees.
“I’m pretty affected because I’m trying to get some extra income for my family. It takes big chunks. Here in Victoria, I know it’s happening in big cities like Houston, but here I didn’t expect it to happen in Victoria.
Ortiz was later blackmailed by someone into giving him $500 for details of the stolen trailer, but didn’t want to be coerced, so he called the police, but has yet to hear any promising leads from the VPD. .
Ortiz wants his trailer recovered, but if he sees a wooden 2 x 4 trailer in town, it could be him and the authorities should be called.
