INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Department of Public Works said on Sunday that garbage collection will continue as normal this week and will not be on a sliding schedule despite the city’s June 1 observance.
“June 1 is included in Indy DPW’s solid waste sector holiday, but it usually falls on a weekend that does not follow the slide schedule,” Indy DPW said in a press release. “Nevertheless, Indy DPW Solid Waste Division Leaders, in coordination with members of AFSCME Union Local 725, have decided that solid waste crews will change this week’s working week, given the historical significance of the memorial. Workers voted to continue the standard weekly solid waste service schedule despite the closure of City Hall on Monday, June 20.”
