After a week of Pixel news storms, it’s nice to be back in the office and talking about Chromebooks again. Don’t get me wrong. I’m more excited than anyone about Google’s new Pixel 7 family, and perhaps even more excited about the upcoming Pixel Watch, but our bottom line is ChromeOS. There was a lot of his ChromeOS news this morning, and there’s still a lot more to come.
Today’s deal includes the best ChromeOS tablet on the market and one of the most underrated flagship devices you can buy. On the budget side, I’ve come across another “cheap” Chromebook that you can buy for under $100. Now, a word of caution here. It’s a cheap MIL-spec device that looks like something you’d find in a classroom, but that’s not a bad thing.
The Acer Chromebook 512 is a 12-inch HD+ clamshell laptop with a rugged chassis, spill-resistant keyboard and Intel N4020 CPU that can really handle moderate workloads. Premium? No. super stylish? far cry. It’s a reliable and durable Chromebook. At a ridiculously low price of just $79. That is correct. I said $79.
If you want a knockaround device, a backup Chromebook, or something for kids, this Chromebook is a solid choice, and it’s cheaper than what many of us spend on coffee a month. The Acer Chromebook 512 can be found among many of his ChromeOS deals on Amazon this week, but you can find the direct link at the Chrome shop.
