It’s like a general cleaning and it’s only October.
The City of Somerset hosts the autumn edition of the Cleanup twice a year. Next week he will be held from October 17th to 21st. It’s a great time to get rid of broken things or simply unwanted junk.
Somerset Sanitation Department employees follow their normal route during cleanup week. They ask people to pile a truckload of trash (that fits in the back of a pickup truck) by the curb on their regular trash day.
Curb means “above the curb”. It must be installed on the ground, not on the street, on the platform, in the car.
Workers expect to carry more, so the city is asking both customers and drivers who share the road with trucks to be patient in allowing crews some leeway.
This means asking drivers to give their trucks extra leeway, and asking customers not to worry if crews don’t pick up trash at normal times.
Cleanup is free for Somerset residents only and is only free if the sanitary department picks up the items.
Sanitary trucks do not pick up dangerous or hazardous materials such as tires, gas, oil, and paint.
They pick up furniture. Freezers and refrigerators must be securely fastened so that the door cannot be opened.
