Our beloved brother Lincoln “Link” Mechtel, 57, was called to eternal rest on Tuesday, October 25, 2022.

He is survived by his fiancée, Annette Swanson. son, Joshua (Brenda) Mechtel. his grandchildren Colin and Cadence Mechtel; Mother, Carol. Sisters Juanita (Mark) Kolinsky, Nancy (Troy) Sheerer, Cheryl (Paul) Doucet, Kim Saxon and Julie (Chad) Tobias. Siblings Adam (Christine), Samuel (Laurie), Jess (Kelly), Cole (Jenny) and Aaron (Steve).

He died before his father, Richard. Brother, Dion. brother-in-law, Toby Saxon; Grandparents Karl and Julia Rudloff, Leonard and Regina Mechtel.

Link attended Shakopee Area Catholic School until eighth grade and then went to Shakopee High School, where he graduated in the class of 1983. He later started his own business called “Get Rid of It” and called it upcycling, by creating something different and better out of scrap instead of recycling it.He always junk I was doing a pick-up call. The best thing about Link is that while the average person looks at a pile of junk, Link sees an opportunity to find something better. He was a master of black his jack and was trying to win a pot of gold. It was fun to watch his mind go by while he played.

He was a creative cat and a jack of all trades. He could fix almost anything, and if not, fixed it in his own way. He enjoyed sitting around the campfire. It always ended with some kind of “bang”. Link was a little surly on the outside, but he had a big heart and would help anyone who needed a hand. I will miss you dearly.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 5, from 12:00 to 4:00 pm, with a memorial service at 3:30 pm at McNearney-Schmidt Funeral and Cremation, 1220 3rd Ave. East, Shakopee, 952-445-2755Instead of flowers, memorials were preferred to the Minnesota Human Society.
