Clifton Park, NY (NEWS10) — County Waste is once again providing free street yard garbage collection for Clifton Park residents from April 4 through the end of November. Officials said yard waste, such as grass clippings, fallen leaves, tree stumps, and shrubs, will only be collected in brown paper bags, weather permitting.
Weekly yard garbage collection is scheduled for Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays. County Waste collects yard waste on Mondays or Tuesdays for residents south of Ballston Lake Road and Kins Road. Residents north of Kinns Road and Ballston Lake Road on Friday. East of 87N and west of 87N between Sitterly and Towpath. In addition to the east side of Moe between Grooms and Boyack, we will also be picking up yard trash on Friday.
Please note that residents do not collect yard waste from trash cans or other types of containers. The bag should be visible at the curb and not covered with a tarp. Officials said only garden waste, along with brown bags, can be recycled through the treatment system.
Items that are not collected are:
- animal waste
- tree or shrub roots
- tree stump
- log
- remnants of the garden
We also do not allow waste containing household waste, pressure-treated wood, sleepers, construction debris, plastic, metal, or other foreign matter. Residents are required to place yard trash bags on the curb the night before pickup to avoid spillage or damage to the bags due to inclement weather.
At various times of the year when yard waste debris collection is higher than usual, officials said collection dates may deviate from the established schedule. Please contact the city for pick-up dates.
