NASHVILLE, Tennessee (WKRN) — As the city of Nashville works to tackle its garbage pile problem, local businesses are working harder to lighten the load.
Haulee, an on-demand technology company, delivers the services consumers need most, when they need them most.
Essentially, it’s a rideshare app for what you don’t want.
After the city sorted out the issue, the company offered the service free of charge for a month in February.
Mateo Madlock, Haulee’s chief product officer, said:
The problem started when Red River Waste Solutions filed for bankruptcy last year. The company handles his 73% of Nashville’s domestic trash collection routes.
Mayor John Cooper recently called the pile of garbage a public health concern and hired two emergency vendors to pick up the slack.

“I think we have a huge opportunity to make an impact on the planet here,” Madlock said, adding that the company has reduced landfill waste by up to 87%, further reducing its emissions.

The company currently has about 40 drivers and is looking for more.
