NASHVILLE, Tennessee (WKRN) — As the city of Nashville works to tackle its garbage pile problem, local businesses are working harder to lighten the load.
Haulee, an on-demand technology company, delivers the services consumers need most, when they need them most.
Essentially, it’s a rideshare app for what you don’t want.
After the city sorted out the issue, the company offered the service free of charge for a month in February.
Mateo Madlock, Haulee’s chief product officer, said:
The problem started when Red River Waste Solutions filed for bankruptcy last year. The company handles his 73% of Nashville’s domestic trash collection routes.
Mayor John Cooper recently called the pile of garbage a public health concern and hired two emergency vendors to pick up the slack.
Howley can help.
“We connect our customers with people who own pickup trucks near Nashville and ask them to help us with things like garbage collection, junk removal, bulky goods delivery, basically any problem that fits in the back of a pickup truck. We are helping to solve this,” said Garrett Elmore. His CEO and co-founder of Haulee said:
With the click of a button, we will request and dispatch a driver to your home within 2 hours.
“Waste collection services haven’t evolved in over 100 years, and with the technology we have today, it’s probably one of the industries most in short supply,” says Elmore.
Elmore says they’re changing the landscape. Indeed, it’s happening both literally and figuratively.
“I think we have a huge opportunity to make an impact on the planet here,” Madlock said, adding that the company has reduced landfill waste by up to 87%, further reducing its emissions.
In addition, they offer Music City highly paid and flexible jobs.
The company currently has about 40 drivers and is looking for more.
“They could use what they already had, they didn’t have to spend more money, they were giving these people jobs and opportunities,” Elmore said. , you can choose your own schedule and earn extra income outside of your day job.”

As for customers, you pay by miles and minutes, though Madlock says that may change in the future.
“Given the capacity issues, I think there is a huge opportunity here. [the] The city may work with local authorities to subsidize this and make it free. “Because I know people have already paid their taxes to get rid of their luggage and junk, it’s about having a conversation with the mayor and his office,” Madlock said.
