The City of Parkland requires residential and commercial property owners to utilize waste management for trash, recycling and bulk collection.
Picking up rubbish
Garbage collection occurs twice a week on designated collection days and garbage can be curbside up to 12 hours prior to scheduled collection.
All trash must be placed in a closed container (not exceeding 32 gallons in size) or appropriate tied trash bag.
There is no limit to the number of covered bins or garbage bags that can be placed on the curb. However, it should be arranged in a neat and tidy manner.

Waste Management will provide one 64-gallon bottle to each household customer. roll out cart (white with green lid), used for all accepted recyclable materials. Recyclable materials are picked up once a week and placed on the side of the road along with regular trash on scheduled recycling days. Acceptable materials are:
- Newspaper/folder
- Plastic containers, numbers 1-7
- magazines, catalogs, telephone directories
- Juice boxes, cardboard boxes flattened
- vials and bottles
- Steel cans, tin cans, aluminum cans
- office paper and junk mail
- cereal and tissue boxes
holiday schedule
Garbage and recycling is collected on all public holidays except Christmas Day. If the regular collection day for garbage and recyclable resources falls on Christmas Day, it will be collected on the next regular collection day.
Horticultural Debris Collection Dates and Instructions
Gardening debris consisting of cut grass, palm fronds, or small tree branches is collected on the same day as garbage collection, but must be separated from the garbage debris.
All tree trimmings, branches, and palm leaves that are released for normal solid waste collection but placed uncut into residential containers or roll-out carts must be cut, tied, and separated by 4 feet ( 4′) shall be placed neatly on the curb in bundles not exceeding It is 50 lbs (50 lbs) long, weighs 50 lbs (50 lbs) and sits within 5 ft (5 ft) of a solid roof road. Tree stumps and logs will only be collected on bulk pickup days, provided they are properly cut and neatly placed on the curb.

Oversized Garbage Collection Days and Precautions

Bulky waste collection is once a month and a maximum of 15 cubic yards of bulky waste is permitted per collection day.
Bulky waste must be shouldered no later than 48 hours (or 72 hours if the timeframe includes a weekend) prior to the scheduled pick-up time for bulk items.
If you live in a homeowners association, check with your property manager as they may have stricter guidelines for this and other details.
Bulky waste is defined as large items, generally over 50 pounds, that are too large to fit in a typical roll-out waste bin. Examples of bulky waste include white goods (household appliances such as refrigerators, stoves, washers and dryers), furniture, and large branches. Refrigerators and air conditioners must be free of all CFCs.
Bulk does not include any form of material or debris resulting from land clearing, land development, or building demolition. It also excludes automobiles and their parts, boats, internal combustion engines, glass and mirrors, hazardous waste and biomedical waste.
Stumps and mature trees cannot be collected in bulk unless they are reduced to a size and weight that can be managed by a grapple truck.
Bulky waste shall be cut from tree trunks, logs and large branches not exceeding 4 feet and placed by the roadside in an orderly and tidy manner. Wood, metal poles, and similar items should also be cut to no more than 4 feet.
Do not leave bulky waste near fire hydrants, mailboxes, utility poles, cable boxes, cars, and fences. Do not install within 10 feet of a ditch, storm drain, marsh/canal, or where it may fall into a ditch, storm drain, marsh/canal. Placing trash of any kind on premises other than your own is expressly prohibited and is against city ordinances.
Oversized garbage collection may be canceled due to weather.
How to dispose of oversized garbage in refrigerators and freezers
If the resident has a refrigerator or freezer, they must first remove Freon if they wish to receive it in bulk. A professional can provide that service and “tag” the appliance for waste management to collect.
