Benefits of Renewable Energy for Energy

With all the benefits of renewable energy, why is it a better energy choice? Read on to find out.

Over the past few years, solar panels and wind turbines have become increasingly popular. why? Because people are quickly becoming aware of the fact that renewable energy has many benefits not only for the planet, but also for people.

Renewable energy is an umbrella term that encompasses a range of energy sources such as solar, wind, geothermal, hydropower and biomass. This article explains why renewable energy is an excellent choice for energy procurement and the enormous benefits it offers.

    What is renewable energy

There are different types of renewable energy depending on location and season. The seven main types of renewable energy are:

Sun. Solar energy comes from the sun and is the only renewable energy source that you can personally use to power your home by installing solar panels.

Wind. In order to utilize wind energy, it is necessary to install wind turbines in areas with strong winds. Offshore and onshore wind farms are an excellent way to bring energy and power to more remote areas.

hydro power. Hydropower works similarly to wind power, but utilizes water instead. Large dams and turbines convert water flow into energy. Expensive option, but can produce a lot of energy.

Geothermal. Geothermal energy uses heat already produced within the earth, which in some areas can be converted into energy.

tide. Tidal energy is similar to hydroelectric energy and is energy obtained from the tide.

biomass. Biomass is slightly different from other renewable energy sources in that it is the energy obtained by burning organic waste. It is classified as renewable because there is always waste to burn.

hydrogen. Hydrogen is the most available element on earth and can be used as a zero carbon fuel if separated.

A smart distributed energy network will make energy accessible to everyone, regardless of the weather. For example, one place has bright sunshine perfect for generating solar energy, and another has strong winds perfect for spinning wind turbines.

    Environmental benefits

We all know that global warming is a serious problem that needs to be addressed urgently if we want to save the planet for future generations.

Conventional fossil fuels such as coal and gas produce greenhouse gases that are harmful to the environment. The more we use fossil fuels, the more harmful carbon emissions we put into the atmosphere. Simply put, these emissions heat the atmosphere (hence the name global warming) and cause some of the major environmental problems we see today, such as floods and droughts.

However, renewable energy sources produce little or no harmful emissions, making them a more sustainable and greener energy solution.

    health benefits

According to the World Health Organization, about 99% of the population breathes air that is unhealthy and beyond their health limits. Unhealthy air is usually caused by burning fossil fuels that release nitrogen dioxide into the atmosphere and can lead to a variety of respiratory health problems.

Renewable energy sources not only limit the number of harmful gases in the atmosphere, but they also prevent the same harmful substances from reaching the soil and affecting the food we eat.

A healthier population as a whole would reduce the strain on health services. So the health benefits of renewable energy are far-reaching.

    Availability advantage

The clue is in the name, but renewable energy has the great advantage of being inexhaustible. Playable.

We can expect fossil fuels to start running out during the next century, but renewable energy sources are always there. The sun is always shining to produce solar energy and the wind is always blowing to turn the turbines. Put this way, the sun is projected to continue to shine for at least another 4 billion years of her life, so we can be confident that solar energy will keep us going for some time to come.

Renewable energy sources are also relatively reliable. Conventional fossil fuels are often procured through conflicts between countries and political parties, while no one has control over factors such as the sun and wind.

By deploying smart networks, we will be able to evenly distribute the energy generated by renewable energy sources. So everyone has access to energy, even if it’s windy at one end of the country and not at the other.

    cost advantage

And since renewable energy is considerably cheaper than fossil fuels, switching can have a positive impact on our wallets as well.

First and foremost, renewable energy technologies have fewer moving and combustible parts, making maintenance requirements and costs much lower than fossil fuel alternatives. This means that the overall cost of running a renewable power plant is much cheaper.

Renewables rely on the sun, wind, steam, etc., so there is no need to refuel, and there is no bidding war against foreign energy sources, allowing every country to produce its own renewable energy.

The cost benefits of using renewable energy benefit the entire supply chain and its energy bills, from power plants to end users.

    In conclusion

We all know that taking steps to save the planet is no longer an option. We must act to prevent further damage to our vulnerable environment. Renewable energy is one of the greatest ways to effect change, but as this article shows, it’s not just the environmental benefits that make renewable energy a great choice. Renewable energy is expected to become more prevalent in the coming decades, not only because of its cost and availability, but also because of the possible public health benefits.
