Raven Indigenous Capital Partners has invested $2,500,000 in Salish Environmental Group Inc, the parent company of Salish Soils, a composting and waste recycling company located in the Sishal Nation Territory in Sechelt, British Columbia on the Sunshine Coast. Raven Indigenous Capital is an Indigenous-led impact investment fund operating in both Canada and the United States.

Salish Environmental Group operates a number of environmental services from its Salish Soils facility in Sechelt. Salish Soils provides residue management from collection to treatment of fish excreta, food scraps and biosolid residues, and currently operates within the territories of Shishaar, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw, and Tla’amin Nation. doing. Salish Soils uses many processes to turn waste into value-added products such as compost, energy fuel and growing media for food production. Currently, 50% of waste that goes to Sunshine Coast landfills is diverted to Salish facilities for recycling and composting.
Raven’s investment will allow us to strengthen and expand several Salish initiatives.
- Salish retail and commercial depot restructuring
- Develop a finished reservoir of all compost and soil to increase consistency throughout the season
- Production of products in brand bags
- Improving the safety and efficiency of recycling and sales areas at Sechelt facilities
- Sustained improvement of the social and environmental well-being of the people of the Sunshine Coast and of the planet
