‘Be well prepared’: Palm Beach County environmental agency investigates beach erosion ahead of Nicole
news. thank you As we continued to track down Nicole, we checked with Palm Beach County Coastal Erosion officials to see if the shoreline was prepared.ANGELA ROZIER joined us live from Jupiter to answer this big question. Palm He Beach County had the opportunity to tag along as environmental officials went through routine press storm preparations today. Here in Jupiter Beach, one of her in several areas along the coastline, and here in Palm Beach County, was investigated today by members of her team. Now they took measurements on the beach. They checked in with the lifeguards to see if there were any concerns here. They also took pictures of the area. Officials say they typically make pre-storm preparations when they expect some sort of tropical impact heading their way. My biggest concern is just the size of the storm. You know, even if it’s not right for us, if it feels like we’ve put in quite a bit of work, it has potential. Currently, the Jupiter feeding project was completed last winter. They brought in thousands of cubic yards of offshore sand. And officials say it was work done at the time and should be prepared for the effects of today’s storm.report

Andy Studd is with the Palm Beach County Environmental Resources Management. He said they usually prepare before a storm if they anticipate some type of tropical impact. “But we feel we are well prepared. We have done work to rebuild quite a few beaches over the last two to three years, following the previous impact of Irma and Dorian. We feel we are in good shape.” They said the rebuilding project has prepared the beach for potential storm impacts. After the storm has passed, officials will go back and collect post-storm data.
