Employee volunteers at Potomac Edison, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp., planted 650 trees at a tree-planting event throughout the company’s Maryland service area in October.
Members of Potomac Edison’s Green Team, a group of employees who volunteer their time and talents to support various environmental initiatives, plant approximately 150 trees in Boonsboro’s Shaffer Park and 200 in Frederick’s Monocacy National Battlefield. Book trees, planted 250 trees along Tom’s Creek. at Emmitsburg. The green team will also plant 50 trees at his school at Fairview’s Claude E. Kitchens Outdoors in Clearspring in late October to replace trees lost in the storm.
FirstEnergy is donating trees for planting as part of a larger corporate initiative to plant 20,000 trees in 2022. So far this year, nearly 16,000 trees have been planted in parks and nature reserves across FirstEnergy’s six state service areas. Tree planting and giveaways support FirstEnergy’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint, promote responsible use of natural resources, and promote sustainable practices.

FirstEnergy’s 10 green teams are made up of employees in Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and West Virginia. These groups work with state park systems, watershed and recycling groups, garden clubs, schools, and other environmentally focused organizations to support FirstEnergy’s commitment to building a brighter and more sustainable future.
