Multiple federal and state agency partners provide updates on recent and ongoing efforts in the Verona community.
Lenexa, Kang. (October 18, 2022) – Region 7 of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will host a public availability session and community meeting at Verona High School on Wednesday, October 26th. Afternoon After presentations by participants, EPA will conduct a question and answer session until 9:00 pm.
“We are fulfilling our commitment to the City of Verona by bringing together essential federal, state and local partners to protect public health and the environment,” said Meg, EPA Region 7 Administrator. McColister said. “EPA and partner agencies can share information and answer community and individual questions on October 26 in Verona.”
The Public Availability Session will allow for one-on-one discussions with representatives from the EPA, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MoDNR), the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (MDHSS), and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). question.
The purpose of this session and conference is to provide an update on EPA’s ongoing regional air monitoring efforts and to enable partner agencies to provide an update on their work on the BCP Ingredients Inc. facility in Verona. EPA will also provide an update on the Syntex Facility Superfund site whose boundaries include his BCP facility.
The community meeting follows a public meeting in December 2021 where the EPA provided an update on air and groundwater pollution in Verona. In 2019, the EPA held additional meetings with the City of Verona and the public to inform them about the health risks associated with ethylene oxide emissions and to provide an update on the groundwater survey at the Syntex Facility Superfund site.
