Having spent most of the past 20 years as an environmental consultant working in the oil fields of Alberta and mining in northern Ontario and around the world, Barrett is excited to be back in the field where he knows the field well. .
“I had a really great opportunity,” says the chem major from Guelph, Ontario. Barrett spent most of his career focused on air quality, but he also needed talent management skills.
“I worked at several different consulting firms, but I was always in the same kind of role: running a team, running a project, running a small group.” I get to work on the site and it provides a very interesting perspective.”
Barrett also pays attention to waste management and disposal to ensure that its operations do not negatively impact the environment.
“My specialty is environmental management, which is about minimizing our current environmental impact while still allowing our facilities to do what they do on a daily basis. Apply business practices to both future environmental and climate impacts.”
