Subsidiary of Meridian Waste North Carolina, LLC meridian wastean integrated non-hazardous solid waste services company, closed out the October Charity Pumpkin Patch by giving $2,000 to two local organizations.
This year’s charity pumpkin patch winners are: Knightdale Fire Station and the Eastwake Education Foundation (EWEF). Shotwell Environmental Park will match his $1,000 donation from Pumpkin Patch to each organization.

The Knightdale Fire Department is responsible for protecting the life, property and environment of citizens and visitors to the town of Knightdale. Our personnel are trained to respond to a wide variety of emergencies including structural fires, motor vehicle/rescue accidents, hazardous materials accidents, natural disasters and man-made disasters. Additionally, the Fire Department provides fire and life safety education to the community. The division has 75 active members, of which 42 are full-time and 33 are limited service/volunteer employees, and operates in 3 fire stations.
EWEF is a community-based non-profit organization serving families in Eastern Wake County. The foundation was established in 1993 as an advocate for local schools with the aim of “…to ensure that every child has the opportunity to reach school age healthy and ready to learn.” is. All services are free for families visiting the center. This program is for children up to 5 years old and their parents. The emphasis is on introducing reading, improving listening skills, and activities that enhance your child’s gross and fine motor skills.
Over 300 attendees took home over 100 pumpkins and enjoyed face painting, pumpkin painting, inflatable games, a Magic by David show and free lunch. The Meridian Waste team will deliver donation checks in November 2022.
