The 6-foot-2 safety recently visited Virginia Tech to see his brother in action as the Hokies hosted Miami.. The older Derain had four tackles in Virginia Tech’s 20-14 loss to the Hurricanes.

In a text message, Delane said, “It was definitely fun watching my brother throw the ball in a great setting.
“It was definitely nice to see my brother on the next level with the ball,” he added.. “this is What we dreamed of as children. ”
During her visit, young Delane was impressed by the Virginia Tech fans and the general environment within Lane Stadium.. he also got to spend time with Brent Pry and his staff were also impressed by the coaching staff while on campus.
“I spoke with coach Pry, coach Prilow and coach Jones,” he said.. “The message they gave me was that people like me needed to come to VT to change the culture.”
