VENICE, FL (WWSB) – Recovery of storm debris in Venice is underway and the city says it could take a month or more to reach all areas.
“Hold on. We’ll go to your property,” the city told residents on Twitter.
The city has released a map of the zones that contractor Crowder Gulf uses to schedule pickups.
Track locations scheduled for Wednesday, October 12:
- Zones 1 and 2 Venice Island has 4 trucks.
- Zone 3 has one truck.
- Zone 4 has two trucks.
Officials say first-pass recovery will take 30 to 40 days. Contractors make multiple passes through the city’s neighborhoods to pick up materials.
Since October 5, more than 13,000 cubic yards of debris have been collected in the city.
The City is authorized to collect debris in City-owned right-of-way, public parks, dangerous sloping and hanging trees in public areas, and gateless single-family home communities.
Debris collection and removal costs from gated subdivisions, condominiums, and commercial property driveways are currently not eligible for reimbursement under the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Public Assistance Program and these Facilities are encouraged to use private insurance and contractors. service.
The City will submit a special exception request to FEMA to allow collection within gated single-family home lots and publish its progress.
