Amarillo, Texas (KFDA) – NewsChannel 10’s Project Clean-Up is getting the job done in Amarillo.
Dozens of rollouts have been loaded and directed to city dumps over the past few weeks.
A recent visit helped remove the ugliness and brighten it up in the Barrio neighborhood of northeastern Amarillo.
The barrio area was littered with sofas, mattresses and lumber. Cleaners at Fuller & Sons Construction were tasked with creating a dent.
Labor contractor Kevin Saunders said, “It’s nice to do things like this to keep people off the streets and keep our communities clean.
The area to be cleaned up was southeast 10th Avenue and the Roberts area down the alleyway to the Alamo Park in the center of the Barrio.
“It’s really big, just one alley that shows a lot of trash being dumped here,” Sanders said.
For several hours the crew worked in the barrio. Our first trip to the neighborhood had hundreds of pounds of trash and debris.
It was done with keeping Barrio and Amarillo beautiful in mind.
“It looks a lot better than it started, so we’re doing a pretty good job,” he said.
If you see these guys cleaning your neighborhood, please be kind and thank them.
They are benefiting the city with Project Clean-Up.
