FREMONT, Calif. — Niles Canyon Road hit by this week’s storm may remain closed for another week as Caltrans maintenance crews continue clearing debris and repairing the road there is.
Canyon Road, which connects Fremont and Snall, also known as State Route 84, has been hit by rainstorms for the past seven days. Mudslides, landslides and debris littered the highway.
Niles Canyon Road is closed between Old Canyon Road in Fremont (just east of Mission Boulevard) and Main Street in Sunol. The scenic highway is regularly used as an alternative to Interstate 680.
