Missing engagement ring found in tornado debris, man proposes on the spot

Lamar County, Texas (KXII) – When an EF3 tornado destroyed Dakota Hudson’s home near Hopewell, Texas, where she hid her engagement ring, she didn’t expect to see it again.

Against all odds, Hudson didn’t just find her missing engagement ring on Tuesday.

Patterson said, “It’s time for some shit.”

A tornado in Lamar County left Lauren and Dakota with next to nothing.

“I said to her, ‘I lost your engagement ring and your wedding ring,’ and she said okay,” Hudson said. “I was the only one she needed.”

But when the Paris Junior College softball team arrived to help clean up, they couldn’t find that special ring and refused to leave.

Hudson said, “If you tell 20 girls that someone will get engaged if they find a ring, they will find it.

Kate Rainey says, “I was digging in the mud at this particular spot.” But it wasn’t metal. It was gold. I didn’t believe it.

The engagement ring was found seven yards from its stash in the closet, torn from its box and buried two inches underground.

“All glory goes to God,” said Hudson. “I wasn’t going to wait any longer.”

In moments when everything felt lost, they had each other for better or worse.

“At the end, I had a moment to smile. It was a real smile,” Patterson said. “It was such a surreal moment. I couldn’t have asked for a better proposal.”

The couple also found their wedding ring about three feet from their engagement ring.

Then, after recovering from the tornado, they start planning their wedding.
