Somerville, South Carolina (WCBD) – Students help clear debris from a Lowcountry beach after this week’s Hurricane Ian.
Lowcountry Connections Academy hosts the Isle of Palms beach cleanup to collect debris and trash from Hurricane Ian.
Lowcountry Connections Academy is a tuition-free online public school for K-12 students in the state. The school serves her 350 students statewide.
Students from the Lowcountry Connections Academy in the Myrtle Beach area go on excursions to local beaches and participate in cleanups.
Students report their cleaning progress to the state through the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Management app, school officials said.
