Starting November 10, roadside debris collection will be suspended until Spring 2023.
The suspension is aimed at ensuring that areas near sidewalks, curbs and public roads are cleared for the coming winter, the city said.
Due to the large amount of fallen trees and debris, some properties and small piles of debris may not be able to be removed, the city said.
For those who cannot place debris next to the road by November 10, or if city officials have not dealt with their property, a safe area on the property at least 10 feet or 3 meters from the road You will be asked to put down the rubble.
Residents are also urged to cut tree branches to four feet or less in length and place them next to driveways.
In addition, to aid in cleanup operations, parts over 10 inches in diameter should be cut into sections no longer than 2 feet in length.
Residents should also not pile trash or other debris on tree branches or stumps. This is because it can affect cleaning operations and pose a safety risk to personnel and equipment.
The Island Waste Management Corporation (IWMC) began collecting debris from the yard on Monday, November 7 for its annual fall cleanup.
The IWMC guidelines for curbing garden debris are available online.
