IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. — Imperial Beach spent most of the day cleaning up from the high waves on Friday morning.
Huge waves pushed large amounts of water, debris and sand into the neighborhood.
Martin Mattes, co-owner of Ye Olde Plank Inn, said: Go up the slope and down the alley. ”
Tony Cornett, co-owner of Ye Olde Plank Inn, said:
High waves crashed into and around Imperial Beach on the coast. At Ye Olde Plank Inn, owners Mattes and Cornett started his day drying out the patio and rescuing the trash.
“This is all the dirt underneath. We have to dig out the dumpster because the wheels are deep. All the sand and water got through here,” Cornette explained.
The bar owner said opening at 6 a.m. for $0.25 coffee saved him from water damage because he had employees tasked with keeping nearby drains clean.
