orlando, florida – Orange County residents of the Pine Hills community said they were saddened by the news that a 75-year-old man died while clearing debris left over from Hurricane Ian as it passed through Florida last month.
Theodore Sims died after falling from a ladder, according to the Orange County coroner. Neighbors said they were trying to remove tree branches from the roof of his home on Dunsford Drive.
“I was at home and heard someone yelling ‘911! 911!’. Sad, very sad, very sad,” said Beverly Ellis.

Another man died while preparing his home for an incoming storm, according to the Osceola County coroner. Terry Curtin, 72, has eyewitness accounts of falling from a ladder. “He grabbed the ladder and tried to tighten the gutter and drain, but he fell and hit the back of his head on the concrete,” explained the man’s daughter, Rachel Curtin.
