ENGLEWOOD, Fla. (WWSB) – Chris Schluver and some of his friends have gathered to help Suncoast residents clear debris from their property. Schruber said he, like his friends, had lost their jobs due to the hurricane, so he asked his community to see if any of his members needed help cleaning up after the hurricane. posted on Facebook.
The reply came quickly. A family on the corner of Mango St. and Coconut Ave. had a tree fall on their roof. The tree narrowly missed the couple’s bedroom, leaving significant damage.
Seeing a neighbor in need of help gave Schluver the idea to help during a real-life hurricane. Mr Schluber has never hesitated to help those in need, he said.
“A whole oak tree fell on their house, and I actually ran out at peak during the hurricane,” says Schruber. “The wind was nice when we ran across, but the run back was miserable. You can see her face hurting and crying. I know.”
The crew will travel across Englewood and Venice to assist community members with the cleanup process and plans to assist Northport once the flooding subsides. Those who need help can visit Schreber’s Facebook page and message him.
