Cash Daniels, a celebrity in our local conversation, started his first river cleanup of the year on Saturday.
We joined an exciting group of teenagers at Harrison’s Bay Park. We also spoke to several people who want Cash to make Chattanooga a cleaner place to live.
“There’s so much trash here and all that trash harms animals. That’s why we do it to protect animals,” Cash said.
Cache says that 80% of the trash in the ocean comes from rivers, so he likes to help clean them up.
With the help of park rangers, his parents and friends, Cache is working to stop the pollution of our oceans by trash and debris.
“It’s going really well today. We’ve got quite a few people here. I think we can get a lot of trash and we got a lot of tires,” Cash said.
Cash’s passion for protecting wildlife and being a good steward of the planet has spread to his friends.
“It helps the environment, keeps water and land clean, and animals safe,” said Evan Hockenberry, a friend of Cash’s.
Tennessee Congressman Greg Vital also donned gloves and got dirty to help clean up Harrison Bay Park.
