FORT MYERS, Fla. — The advance of damage left by Hurricane Ian on Friday was delayed by illegally parked drivers who had to be moved to a debris truck in Fort Myers.
“This is quite problematic, making it impossible for huge lorries that can carry large amounts of debris to pick them up. We may be eligible,” said Liz Vero Matthews, a spokesperson for the city of Fort Myers.
The Fort Myers Police Department posted a PSA on its Facebook page reminding drivers of fines for parking on “priority roads.”

On East Riverside Drive in Fort Myers, Jason Demers talks with Fox 4 about how debris and cars are crowding the streets.
“This street was one lane in each direction for several days,” says Demers.
On Friday, Demers said neighbors are starting to get it.
“Most people just picked a spot for the lawn, which is the lawn. It’s growing, but you know everyone’s yard is a mess right now,” Demers said.
Mr Demers said his guest house was vandalized in his backyard.
“They clean it up and in a few days it’s full again,” says Demers.
Bello-Matthews said the junk trucks need as much space as possible so they can clear the streets of the city before the holidays.
“In the next week or two, we will be fully on track to complete that second pass in November. Hopefully by Thanksgiving we should have a very clean city,” Bello Mathews said. I was.
The city of Fort Myers also wants to encourage residents to sort all debris into piles.
