OCTOBER 17 — HENDERSON — The City Council moves to issue an impairment and repair order for Henderson’s extraterritorial property.
Authorities have determined that the property at 292 Weybossett Road does not meet the city’s minimum property maintenance or minimum housing standards. The decision came after citizens filed a formal complaint about excessive debris and junk on the property.
The city is now planning to remove the debris. Code compliance director Corey Williams said he hopes to get the job done within the next 30 days.
Williams said the cost of the order would never exceed $5,000. All “commoditizable” materials collected in the cleanup are sold and credited against the cost of the operation.
After the initial complaint in August, the Code Compliance Department issued a notice of hearing to owner Ronnie Parrish. Neither he nor the other owner, Amanda Roberts, attended the hearing in September.
In late September, the Code Compliance Officer issued an order to bring properties with an expiration date of October 10 into compliance. As of last Monday, no “significant” work had been done to code the property, Williams said.
Waybosett Road is southwest of Henderson, outside the city limits near Central Baptist Church. The city manages zoning and housing law issues under state laws that give Henderson and other communities the ability to regulate land use where it appears likely to be annexed.
