A brief Tuesday announcement by Yuba City officials that the 5th Avenue Bridge will be temporarily closed on Saturdays for “maintenance activities” has raised concerns about why it’s happening with the Marysville community. Responded to inquiries from local officials.
Yuba city officials revealed Wednesday that the effort is part of the city’s “annual bridge cleaning,” said Ben Moody, Yuba’s head of public works and development services, on appeal. said in an email.
This Saturday, the City of Yuba’s Department of Public Works will be closing the Fifth Avenue Bridge from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a variety of work. As a result, the city plans to reroute eastbound Bridge Street traffic in Yuba and westbound his Fifth Street traffic in Marysville to his Tenth Street Bridge.
According to Moody, city workers will:
– Replace the east facing collision barrier on the base bridge on the Marysville side
– Prepare for winter rains by vacuuming storm drain inlets and lines and jetting to remove leaves and debris
– graffiti removal with a small sandblaster
– General cleanup of trash, debris and performing sweeping
– Replace/repair missing traffic control signs, signs, and/or barriers
Moody said work so far has included “street lighting and electrical maintenance,” but since the bridge is considered “new,” the city won’t need any electrical work this year. I expect.
Moody said clean-up operations could be completed by 3 p.m. We have chosen to close the bridge.
