CAPE CORAL, FL — The City of Cape Coral continues efforts to clean up and carry away debris from Hurricane Ian.

On Monday morning, crews will begin clearing debris from the city’s approximately 400 miles of canals after receiving state approval.

And we have a plan in place for how they will proceed with the cleanup process.

According to the city, they will first clear land-accessible debris, such as fallen trees and items on easily accessible shorelines.

The next step is to use a barge to remove debris from the water.

The city says it has collected enough debris to cover 161 football fields.
