general information
The City of Little Rock provides solid waste services in a safe, efficient, environmentally friendly and cost-effective manner through waste collection, disposal and recycling. In addition, the city provides yard garbage collection and disposal, bulky item collection (too large to fit in a garbage cart), dead animal removal, mosquito spraying, and administration of neighborhood garbage collection programs. . Garbage and yard waste collection services are provided weekly and recycling collection services are provided bi-weekly.
Construction Waste Disposal: Waste from home modifications or repairs is classified as construction and is not included in your monthly solid waste fee. An option for these materials is to have a contractor dispose of such materials. You can take it to a landfill for disposal for a minimal fee, or request a special pick-up by a city official for an additional fee.
Ash Disposal: To dispose of ash from a fireplace or wood stove, soak the ash in water to extinguish any living embers, tie it securely in a plastic bag, and place it in a garbage cart.
Paint: To dispose of paint, use a paint extender such as kitty litter or sawdust. Another method is to pour the paint onto newspaper and let it dry. Remove the lids from the paint cans and dispose of them as household waste.

The City of Little Rock collects household waste weekly in city-provided carts. It is collected by a side-loading garbage truck with hydraulic arms. Since this is a fully automated system, the cart should be positioned with the handle facing away from the street and within 5 feet of the curb. Also make sure there is at least 3 feet of clearance on each side of the cart. Place the garbage cart at the collection point by 7:00 am on the garbage collection day and remove it from the road by midnight after collection.

curbside recycling program
The City of Little Rock subcontracts recycling collection and processing to third parties. Curb recycling is offered bi-weekly. Place recycling carts at least three feet (3 feet) on either side of garbage carts or other obstructions. Carts must be on the curb by 7:00 AM on the scheduled pickup day and removed from the street by midnight after pickup. Yard waste is collected by the city once a week. The next business day after the scheduled garbage collection day. Leaves, grass, and twigs must be placed in bags, boxes, or cans no larger than 30 gallons with a combined weight of container and contents not exceeding 50 pounds. Limbs must be less than 6 feet long and no more than 6 inches in diameter and must be stacked and placed next to the curb. Do not put your yard waste in the city-provided garbage trucks. All yard waste must be located within 5 feet of the curb for collection. Please be sure to put your yard waste out on the curb by 7am on collection day.

Sale of compost and mulch
Garden waste collected by city employees is recycled into compost and wood mulch at the Little Rock Landfill. Finished compost and wood mulch can be purchased at landfills. For special pricing and availability, call Landfill Scale House at (501)-888-5806. Our staff will load your vehicle.

A collection of bulky items
Oversized garbage that does not fit in the household trash can may be requested to be collected separately. His first four (4) large item or electronics pickups in each calendar year are free. Each additional pickup is $25.00 for 2 cubic yards and $10.00 for each additional cubic yard. The costs are automatically added to your regular monthly solid waste bill.Pickup of bulky items must be pre-booked by phone 311.
- Examples of items covered by this collection service are furniture, appliances (to remove coolant prior to collection), lawn furniture, and mattresses.
- Examples of unacceptable items restricted to this pickup service are construction and demolition debris, auto parts, liquid paint, electronic waste, and tires.
Roll-off trash program
The Roll-Off Dumpster Program is another service the city offers to keep communities clean. Individuals and neighborhood associations may request that 20 cubic yard roll-off bins be dropped off at a pre-determined and agreed-upon location. Individuals are permitted one free roll-off bin delivery per calendar year. Neighborhood associations are permitted eight free roll-off bin deliveries per calendar year. Additional Roll-Off Dumpsters or Construction Waste Dumpsters are available for $327.00. The container is placed in a pre-determined location for three days. Mosquito spraying is done seasonally by Solid Waste Services. Mosquito spraying is carried out in the evenings in designated areas of the city from spring to autumn. To request mosquito repellent in your area, call 311.
dead animal removal
Solid Waste Services provides dead animal removal. Carcasses of animals killed in traffic accidents on city roads are recovered from the roads. Dead animals on private property must be brought to the curb to be picked up. Pick up on private property is not possible.

Little Rock Landfill
The Little Rock Landfill at Ironton Cutoff 10801 is open Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 4 PM.

Garbage, garden waste, construction and demolition debris can be taken to landfills for a fee.
Tires cannot be disposed of in landfills. Contact Davis Rubber at (501) 374-1473 for tire recycling information.
