Like many small businesses across the country, locally owned Junk Remedy has faced some challenges since the pandemic began. This professional junk and trash removal company operating on Lake Zurich was started in 2009 by owner Nick DeJulio who grew up in Burlington with his one truck.
The business currently operates nine trucks and employs 14 staff.
“Our business has been built on referrals from satisfied customers and clients and our reputation as an honest and trustworthy company,” he said. We pride ourselves on standing out from other junk removal franchises by doing so.”
DeGiulio was thrilled that his company won the 2021 Daily Herald Readers’ Choice Best of the Best Award for Junk Removal. “Of course, it is an honor to receive such recognition, especially at a time when so many small businesses face the challenge of staying open,” he said.
Junk Remedy is licensed, guaranteed and insured. The company provides free estimates and handles all costs for loading, labor, cleaning and disposal.
Junk Remedy employs a trusted team to cover a 50 mile radius. Junk Remedy covers all your junk and trash removal needs, from a single item to an entire residential or commercial facility.
DeGiulio brings environmental and social awareness to their business by disposing of their junk responsibly through recycling, donation or sanitary landfills. “We recycle and donate to local charities, so the money stays in our community,” he said.
The company continues to contribute to organizations such as WINGS, Home of the Sparrow, Sparrow’s Nest and House of Hope. DeGiulio also sits on the board of directors of the nonprofit Lake County Responds For Veterans. The organization helps veterans in need by mobilizing financial donations, building materials, and a professional workforce to coordinate the process of repairing, building, and donating homes.
“This was a big local cause that we got involved with, because we can provide donations to help build these homes and raise funds for veterans,” DeGiulio said. .
Junk Remedy recycles and donates as much as possible from all its work and throws away as little as possible. Electronics are sent to recyclers, and furniture and clothing are mostly donated to local charities. We also work from other organizations’ wishlists to meet their needs as much as possible. We also often donate free cleaning services to local charity events such as Relay For Life, 5K Salute, and Color Blast for Autism.
“Our goal is to always provide the best service and satisfy our customers,” says DeGiulio. “We are proud of where we have come as a business and look forward to the future.”
