Christine and Jason Schadler started affordable junk removal in 2005 with their kids and dogs.
Whether it’s one old refrigerator in your garage or an entire house of junk, the team at Affordable Junk Removal offers a cost-effective, stress-free approach to waste management. “You never lift a finger,” said owner Jason Shadler, who founded the company with his wife Christine in 2005.

The business provides same day service to both residential and commercial clients in eastern and central Massachusetts and northern Rhode Island. In addition to junk removal, the company rents out his 15-yard trash can.
Affordable Junk Removal, a family-owned company, has lower overhead costs and is more accessible than domestic competitors, Schadler says. “I have him on the phone 24 hours a day,” he says. “I was on vacation in Italy and Portugal, still answering the phone on the beach. When you call us, you catch me — not an automated machine!
According to Schadler, the company has adopted an environmentally conscious disposal method that recycles items whenever possible, properly disposes of what cannot be recycled, and resells many items at Resellables, Schadler’s second-hand store. I’m here. “I opened that store in Bellingham because I hated to see things thrown away,” Shadler says. “We have four of her children and sustainability is very important to us.”
In the early days of his business, Schadler performed junk removal in the machine shop during nights and weekends when he was not busy working. Eventually the business grew into a full-time operation and Schadlers invested in new equipment and technology for the company. “When I first started out, for example, I didn’t have a tarp. Trucks would throw things at me when I was driving around,” Schadler says with a laugh. “Oh my God, I need a tarp.”
Schadler says his wife was “just as involved” in getting the business off the ground. “While I was doing the heavy lifting, she was on the back end. All the while, she was working at her EMC,” he says. “Fast forward 17 years and we’re managing the company full-time and doing other endeavors. Business is going great. It’s grown into a ridiculously big truck and dumpster, Holliston’s corner his market pizza. I could have bought a shop.”
In addition to providing a much-needed service to the community, Schadler appreciates how Affordable Junk Removal has helped provide a work-life balance that suits his family. “I get to do what I love and spend time with my kids,” he says. “I come home and watch my baby play softball and do all sorts of other things, and I also get to give back to the communities I serve.”
The Schadlers live in Milford, but have many ties to Hopkinton, including the Hopkinton YMCA, which friends and children in town often attend. moreover. Hopkinton residents are corner market regulars. “Hopkinton has been a big presence for us, especially during the pandemic,” he says. “They were always supportive and constantly ordering food. We definitely owe Hopkinton a lot.”
